Finished VoiceThread
I am so glad that I choose Voice Thread as my Web 2.0 tool to explore. I can see more many ways that this tool could be used in my life. Of course I can use it in education but I would like to use it to keep in touch with my family. I like the fact that this tool has controls like I can monitor what is posted and who can view the VoiceThread.
I liked this so much that I called my son at U.C. and told him to try it as well. My daughter, who is 22 said "Neat!"

Enrichment Fun
The students had so much fun during the enrichment day, so I decided to add a couple of picture of the event.

More on Web 2.0
Last week I began teaching enrichment classes at our school and I am finding that the Web 2.0 tools are a great addition to my lesson. I have adapted the lesson to use http:// bubble.us in place of the traditional organizers. I also used voicethread to create a slideshow of the lesson with my voice included. I would like to extend the lesson and use it as an online activity for the students so that they can add their comments. I had a lot of fun and I can't wait to adapt more of my plans.

New 2.0 Tools
Now is the time to play. We are getting an opportunity to learn a new Web 2.0 tool. I think that this will be a great opportunity to discover what is out there. My only problem is that I will want to try so many different tools. I teach different disciplines, so I think it will be hard to find just the right one. I will be using the next week to try a couple of the appealing tools, so stay tune and I will let you know how the process goes.

Tools That Are Useful
I found another great tool to use, Google Forms and I wish I had it four years ago. Back then, I was in charge of pre and post testing for our school. I designed an excel sheet that recorded the students’ scores per question. This was designed to help the teachers to identify which concepts were understood and which were not. I think if I had known about Google Forms, I could have used it to do the same thing that I did with less headaches.

Still Learning
Just when I think I’m getting this Blog thing, something happens that makes me think I am lost again. I was on Megan Woltmann’s Blog, trying to leave a comment and I did something that messed her Blog up. I don’t know what I did but I have to be signed in or you can’t see who left the comment. If anyone knows how I can fix this on her blog let me know.

Digital Imaging
I am about to begin the Digital Image Editing assignment and
I am looking forward to learning many new tools. I have taken pictures with a digital
camera and used editing software but I haven’t used it extensively. It will be
fun to allow myself to take the time to play with the options.
I have wanted to use Google Docs for a long time now but I
have never had others who wanted to use it too. I am eager to see the benefits that
Google Docs has to offer. I can’t wait to get started.

Wordle
Wordles are so much fun. I tried these last year because one
of the science/language arts teachers wanted me to teacher it during my
computer class. The students used words from the books that they were reading
and made a cover for their reports. The only problem that we could find with
the program was that sometimes after the students typed all those words, they
would accidently hit a key by mistake and the words would disappear. We decided
that it would be safer to type the words on word first and cut and paste them
into the document. After we figured that out, the students enjoyed making
shapes and changing the style of their wordle.

Just the Beginning
My blog has been created as a place to get to know the
students in EDTL 6820. You see, I am considered a visiting cohort at least I
think I am. I am enrolled in the Teaching and Curriculum Master’s Program but I
am taking this class because I needed 1 extra credit hour and I wanted to learn
about Web 2.0.
Signing up for this course has already proven to be a good
move. I’ve already learned where to find new tools and I will be able to pass
what I learn on to the other teachers in my building. I can’t wait to discover
more things to implement into my classroom this year.
